Channel 4 Saturday 31 May 8pm

In the Shadow of the Moon brings together, for the first and possibly last time, crewmembers from every Apollo mission that flew to the moon to tell their remarkable stories in their own words.

These personal testimonies are interwoven with digitally remastered footage from Nasa film archives, much of it previously unseen and all of it hauntingly evocative of a bygone era. The result is an intimate and epic film which vividly communicates the daring and the danger, the pride and the passion, of this band of special young men.

In Return to the Moon, Duncan Copp, co-producer of In the Shadow of the Moon explains why we should still be sending men to the moon today. Far from just a Cold War-fuelled 60s and 70s fad, the moon has huge potential to benefit us all, here and now. It seems that the lure of the moon is as alive as ever it once was.
