Dragsters
Once again Scrapheap Challenge has opened its rusty garage doors and thrown down the oily gauntlet to the great bodging British public for the first of two roadshows.
This week, 16 teams of backyard bodgers from around the UK battle it out for the chance to take on the crème de la crème of the engineering world - the Scrapheap All Stars. The Wroughton Classic Car and Bike Show is the setting for the first of this year's Scrapheap roadshows.
The challenge is a head-to-head drag racing duel, but with a twist - engines are banned. The teams have five weeks to build their mind-boggling array of crazy contraptions, from petrol-free peddlers to recycled rubber band racers, which will be pitted against each other in a series of knockout rounds.
The fastest green speedster team gets the chance to race against the Scrapheap All Stars – Andy Barnes, Big Andy and Hadrian Spooner – who have a mere 10 hours to construct their juice-free dragster using only what they can find on the 'heap.
