The Build
The All Stars
Our 'heap heroes quickly settled on their design – a lightweight engine hidden under an old settee. They scrounged the front steering assembly from an old engineless Mini and sourced a knackered engine from a French classic – the 2CV.
Neil's decision not to bother testing their engine proved misguided as later in the day all three team members spent precious hours trying to get it working.
Another problem was a lack of weight over their front axle, but you can always rely on Andy Barnes for an eccentric solution. He unearthed a piano which would undoubtedly provide the much needed weight. But Andy's musical find didn't prove a hit with his All Star team mates.
Firstly, it meant that they'd have to listen to Andy tinkling the ivories for the rest of the build. Secondly, the dimensions of the piano meant that it would sit outside the wheelbase of their sofa speedster, making for a potentially unstable ride.
