Judge – Richard Gibbon
Richard Gibbon OBE, or Gibbo as we affectionately call him, is a firm friend of the 'heap. He previously appeared in the series seven Locomotive Special and his passion for engineering knows no bounds! He's a fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineering and was head of engineering at the National Railway Museum in York for 15 years, making him the obvious candidate to judge our muscle train contest.
Sweet Chariots' expert – Ben Wetherall
As a service engineer for Southern Trains, Ben's definitely got the inside track when it comes to making things move on rails. He's been a volunteer at the Bluebell Railway, where he maintains and drives stream engines, for 12 years now and shares the Sweet Chariots' passion for rugby. At over 6 feet tall he'll match his team's brawny approach to the challenge.
Super Subs' expert – Jonathan Varo
Hailing from Huddersfield, Jon is engineering manager for industrial gearing specialists David Brown. From aircraft carriers to tanks, if something needs shifting Jon is the man who'll sort out a gearbox to do it. He doesn't just talk the torque though, as a welder and fabricator in his youth he's an incredibly useful addition to the ships company.
