The Dam Busters by Paul Brickhill (Pan, 1999)
Originally published in 1951 by Evans Brothers, this is the story of the 1943 raid when nearly 350 tons of water crashed into the valleys of the Ruhr, when the Lancasters of 617 Squadron breached the giant Möhne and Eder dams with 'blockbuster' bombs.

Enemy Coast Ahead by Guy Gibson (Goodall Publications, 1998)
Wing Commander Guy Gibson VC writes affectionately about his beloved aircrews, describing in great detail the nightly drama of the bomber squadrons searching out their targets in the dangerous skies over Nazi Germany.

The Dam Busters directed by Michael Anderson (DVD, 1954)
Michael Redgrave and Richard Todd star in this dramatisation of an actual operation in World War II in which low level British bombers drop skimming bombs into reservoirs in the Ruhr water system to cause floods destroying much of Germany's industrial base. This film has become a British institution.
