Clean Sweeps
Reuben 'Kenny' Young, Chris Whitfield and Dale Smedley are three Yorkshire boys who don't mind getting their hands dirty. They all work together at a road-sweeper depot: Kenny is a workshop foreman, Dale a welder and Chris a mechanic.
The team's technical consultant is Mike Bretton, who runs Acorn Traps, a company that makes special clay-pigeon traps that can be fired remotely.
The Sweeps live, eat and breathe scrap. But can they clear a path to the final?

Boat Buoys
This is a team of boat specialists who go banger racing in their spare time. Toby Kilner spent many years as a marine engineer and now builds houseboats. Johnny Boys has always had an interest in taking things apart and reconstructing them. For a living he buys and sells boats and engines. Monty Ravenscroft built his own workshop when he was 15 and has slaved in it ever since, building a variety of custom cars, inventions and design prototypes.
The team's technical consultant is Tod Todeschini, a special-effects supervisor used to realising the impossible and building strange mechanical contraptions. Tod also has an interest in weapons, so he's well suited to this challenge.
Plain sailing? Or will our boys get that sinking feeling?
