This year there are eight new teams and two that appeared in last year's series – the Megalomaniacs and Brothers in Arms – now back by popular demand. The names of all the rookie teams were put in a hat and four were picked. The chosen teams were given the chance to compete against each other in two preliminary heats, so that the winners would have one success under their belts before entering the quarter finals. The remaining four teams were given a dispensation and were entered immediately into the quarter finals.
