Lance McCormack is known around the world for the quality of his work on custom cars. He started out as a panel beater at Rolls Royce, building bespoke bodies for the most prestigious marque in the world, but his love has always been the iconic American cars of the 1950s. Lance is interested in creating unique vehicles rather than reproducing cars that came off the Detroit production line.
Hot rodding developed after the Second World War, when American servicemen with energy but not much money started buying up old Model Ts and customising them to create tough, exciting vehicles. Lance's favourite from that era is his 1929 Ford Hi-Boy hot rod. In the 1960s the idea of a show car a car that's a work of art came along. Lance's masterpiece is Planet Voodoo a 1950 Mercury Kustom.
When he's not playing with his toys, Lance is running his classic car restoration company, Romance of Rust, rebuilding the bodies of some of the most famous marques in the history of motoring.
