The day brings a long hot trip across the salt pans. 10,000 years ago this area was under the sea. Now it is covered in a glistening crust of salts and minerals that intensify the heat by reflecting it upwards. Bear covers his eyes to stop them from cooking in the extreme heat. Then, head down, he plods on and on toward the distant foot hills. |
