The Sahara: Part One

| Back | Next | |
After a long hot walk, a rest in the shade of this palm restores Bear’s energy enough to enable him to shin up it and collect dates for his supper. Dates are an excellent desert food, full of glucose, minerals and a bit of moisture. Unfortunately, these are unripe and bitter as hell. Water is more of a problem for Bear. He tries digging at the foot of the palms, but the sand is dry as a bone. One of the crew is helicoptered out with heatstroke. |
