The Sahara: Part One

| Back | Next | |
Having rested all day, Bear treks through the night. Guided by the North Star, he heads for the Atlas Mountains. There is the danger of getting too close to snakes in the dark, but on the whole snakes avoid humans. Moving at night can aid survival as it's possible to move a lot further than during the heat of the day. Bear is now in a hamada - a rocky desert. He makes a rock shelter and absorbs the warmth from the rocks when the night gets chilly. |
