After a couple of false starts, Bear takes off at 8.21am with three hours' worth of fuel and oxygen onboard. The ground crew have a heart-stopping moment as they watch him heading directly into the cliffs while he struggles to get his machine under control. At the last moment, he rises up and over them. Gilo soars into the air after him at 8.32am.
