At the top of Everest the temperature will be at least as low as -40°C; the winds can reach 175 miles an hour, so the wind chill will make it even colder. In these conditions exposed flesh will freeze instantly. They have to check that their clothing will protect them and that the engine will run in a deep freeze. |
