First Aid Worker

Every year, tens of thousands of people carry out community or workplace first aid courses. To someone suffering from a heart attack or chocking, your skills could make the difference between life and death, providing emergency treatment and stabilising the patient while you wait for the professionals.
Surprisingly though, such skills are not difficult to learn. Organisations like the British Red Cross offer a range of courses to suit different levels of skills and situations. If organised through your employer you can also become a certified first aid contact at work, which in some cases can even lead to a small pay increase. Another route is to join an organisation like the British Red Cross as a volunteer first aid worker, to attend public events, such as football matches.
