Ask the Expert – Dr Caroline Sullivan
Dr Caroline Sullivan is an environmental economist and Head of the Water Policy and Management Section at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, Wallingford, UK. She has lived and worked in a number of developing countries for over 20 years, including Nigeria, Guyana, Colombia, Greece and Brunei.
Originally qualified in Economics and Psychology, she holds an MSc in Economic Development Planning, and a PhD in Economics and Environmental Valuation. Her main research interests are in improving water management for the benefit of the poor in developing countries, and also the relation between development and the environment. She also works on transboundary water issues, water and ecosystem services, water economics and indicators, and on gender issues in water management. She is currently involved in a number of interdisciplinary research projects in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.
