Ask the Expert – Professor Jim Skea
Jim spent six years as Director of the Policy Studies Institute before joining UKERC (UK Energy Research Centre). Among his achievements during this time, Jim was instrumental in launching the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP), an action and advisory group bringing together industry, academia, lobbying groups and Government departments.
He is a member of the Commission on Environmental Markets and Economic Performance recently set up and chaired by David Miliband and Alistair Darling to identify ways of stimulating the UK's environmental goods and services sector.
He was previously Director of the Economic and Social Research Council's Global Environmental Change Programme and a Professorial Fellow at SPRU (Science and Technology Policy Research), at the University of Sussex.
Jim's main research interests are: energy / environmental policies; sustainable development; climate change; environmental regulation and technical change; and general business and environment issues. He also chairs the Scottish Power Green Energy Trust.
Jim was awarded his OBE in 2004 for services to sustainable transport.
