This is the extraordinary world of the womb
Through the use of visual effects, CGI, state-of-the-art models and moving 4D ultrasounds, Channel 4's Animals in the Womb series opens a window on amazing journeys and survival strategies from embryo to birth.
In Animals in the Womb – Mammals we watched the embryonic development of elephants, dolphins and dogs.
In Extraordinary Animals in the Womb we saw cannibalistic shark embryos eat their own siblings, emperor penguin egg-bound chicks battle the coldest weather on the planet, underdeveloped kangaroo foetuses undergo early birth and the parasitic wasp whose larvae must hijack and exploit the body of another creature. Animals in the Womb - Cats and Dogs offered a fascinating insight into the embryonic development of our favourite pets and their wilder cousins, the lion and wolf, from fertilisation to birth.
