- Watch out for snakes – two million people report snake bites each year, 60,000 of whom die.
- Make sure you take a compass. Without it your chances of making it out are slim.
- Failure to drink enough water in hot and humid conditions can lead to dehydration and eventually heatstroke.
- Sweat is unable to evaporate in humid conditions, tending to bead up and run off the body instead. This prevents it from performing its job of cooling the body. As a result the body sweats more but cools less.
