Trapped Under a Boulder
Hikers Warren Macdonald and Geert van Keulen meet on a remote island off the east coast of Australia. They decide to climb to the summit of Mount Bowen together. After taking a wrong turn they are forced to camp overnight near a rocky riverbed that is almost dry.
Answering the call of nature during the night, Warren leaves their tent and heads across the riverbed. As he clambers over the rocks he dislodges a huge boulder that rolls backwards on top of him. Warren is pinned to the riverbed by an immovable weight and then it starts to rain.
With the water level rising and Warren still stuck, Geert stuggles down the mountain as fast as he can to get the help that Warren needs.
Read what Warren has to say about his experience.
