On a beautiful day in 1982, luxury yacht The Trashman sets sail from Annapolis, Maryland, US, and heads down the east coast to Fort Lauderdale in Florida. The hastily assembled five-man crew enjoy perfect sailing conditions on the first day. Skipper John has some sailing experience, but his girlfriend Meg has barely been on a boat before. The most experienced crewmember is Deborah Scaling-Kiley who was the first US woman to complete the gruelling Whitbred Around the World Race. Brad Cavanagh, youngest of the crew, is a good sailor but not yet in Deborah’s class. Last to join is a friend of Brad’s named Mark, who had sailed before. He was a little over-fond of the bottle. |
