Jeremy must leave him and go and get help. Suffering from exhaustion and near-hypothermic himself, Jeremy must push on and get to camp. His state of mind deteriorates, as does the light. Jeremy, now panic-stricken, misses the turn-off back to camp and descends deeper and deeper into the canyon. In the darkness he moves further and further away from Justin, the camp and help. Only when the sun is up again, does he realise that he needs to turn back. His only thoughts are to get back to his brother. As he retraces his route, he sees the turn-off and twenty-six hours after setting out he reaches the camp, exhausted, dehydrated and nearly delirious. |
