Tragedy and rescue

Tragedy and rescue
Back

As time goes by the crew start to lose control of their minds. Factions begin to form. Meg, only semiconscious now, is too ill to take notice. Mark and John work themselves into a frenzy over their thirst. They crack and take the fatal step of drinking seawater. The salty water will only lead to further dehydration.

Within hours the pair are beginning to hallucinate. John jumps into the water. The others hear a blood-curdling scream as he is dragged under by the sharks. Shortly afterwards, Mark follows and there is a bloody feeding frenzy right by the boat. The sharks almost tip the boat over in the rush to get at Mark.

Brad and Deborah continue to sit tight. They too are now drifting in and out of consciousness. Meg is beginning to talk nonsense. On the fifth day, Meg dies. They feed her to the sharks.

A few hours later, Deborah and Brad are spotted by a passing boat. They are rescued in the nick of time. Both survive to tell the tale and live on to sail another day.
