Toxic gases

Toxic gases
Back    Next

Volcanoes spew out sulphur dioxide, carbon dioxide and hydrogen chloride – a lethal mixture of burning, irritant gases. Inside the vent it is hard for the guys to get enough oxygen to stay alive and each breath they take burns.

The chopper radio died in the crash. They rallied and decided to climb out of the vent. They were all in good shape and, gulping for air, began to scale the crumbly, volcanic rock. The crater rim gets increasingly sheer towards top and eventually the climbers got stuck, with Chris about 15 metres above the other two.
