4 Digital Group has been strategically designed to bring together a partnership uniquely placed to secure the future of commercial digital radio: a formidable multi-media alliance comprising leading members of the radio, television, magazine and retail industries. Led by Channel 4 Radio Limited, the other shareholders are Emap plc, UTV plc, Sky News Radio Limited, Carphone Warehouse and UBC Media Group plc.
All of the shareholders can demonstrate an unrivalled sustained commitment to digital radio in the UK.
To reinforce the strength of its shareholders, 4 Digital Group has secured partnerships with other leading service providers, retailers, manufacturers, traffic and travel information providers, the world’s largest music label, the leading Wi-Fi hot spot provider in Europe, and a national spread of academic institutions with an interest in digital media.
We have an experienced Board of Directors responsible for the governance of the 4 Digital Group.
A Strategy Advisory Group, made up of leaders from the worlds of retail, new media, music, content and culture, will assist the main Board in developing forward-looking strategies for our long-term success. In addition, there will be a specialist Technical Committee, a Research and Development Committee and a Social Action Committee reporting to the Board.
To reclaim radio’s place at the centre of the community, and to contribute to the evolution of public service broadcasting, we are creating a Social Action Network. With the Prince’s Trust and the Media Trust as core members, this will explore innovative ways of engaging communities, young people and marginalised groups.
We are confident that this inter-locking structure of partnerships and advisory groups will not only guarantee effective governance for our consortium, but will ensure that financially, commercially, technically and creatively, 4 Digital Group fulfils its ambitions and thrives during the next 12 years of media history.
