Find out how Kirstie and Phil made the most of Marrakech, and leave your own suggestions too

From the spice of the souks to the charms of the old city, Marrakech has long been an exotic stop-off for adventurous travellers. But how to do it - on a budget, or in luxury style?

If you have your own ideas and tips, leave them at the bottom of the page.

Here's Kirstie and Phil's itinerary:

Featured budget accommodation:

Riad Des Epices

Alternative budget hotel options:

Riad Arocha

This hotel may be cheap, but they don't think this should affect the food they offer, and a different menu of fresh Morrocan food is available each day.

Tchaikana

This small hotel majors on style and comfort, and is a labour of love for the Belgian couple who moved to Marrakech to start it.

Featured budget activity:

Cookery class

Alternative budget activity:

Maison de la Photographie

This photography gallery specialises in images of colonial Morroco, and is a beautiful alternative to traditional museums.

Featured luxury accommodation:

La Mamounia

Alternative luxury hotel options:

The Red House

The Red House specialises in old fashioned luxury. They deliver this with four-poster beds in every room and a restaurant dining room that will make you feel like a sultan.

Lodge K

This hotel doesn't have rooms, it has a series of indiviual lodges set around a pool with its own desert island in the middle. With its own spa, Lodge K makes it as easy as possible to unwind after an intense day in the souks.

Featured luxury activity:

Hot air balloon ride

Alternative luxury activity options:

Off-road desert trip

If you want to get into the Atlas Mountains in style, a personal 4x4 is defintely the way to do it. With accommodation, fuel and a guide included in the price, this is adventure tourism with the hassle taken care of. If you'd rather see the area in a more authentic way, the same company also offers tours on camels.
