Born to an Indian mother and Polish father in rural Cheshire, her interest in world cultures was fuelled from a young age. She won a place to study Archaeology and Anthropology at Cambridge University, and has since travelled across the world, presenting anthropology and archaeology programmes for the BBC, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, ITV, National Geographic and Channel 4.

Mary-Ann is a regular commentator on Sky News, has contributed to BBC News and BBC World Service, and she blogs for the Independent.

This is her first Unreported World film.
