In 2009, Greece: The Unwanted followed the incredible journey taken by Afghan migrants as they try and get into the EU illegally through Greece and Turkey. Jenny Kleeman now writes an update since filming. One of the most memorable scenes focused on 21-year-old Faegheh, who had fled Afghanistan with her mother and younger brother after the Taliban killed her father. When they arrived in Greece, there were incarcerated in the notorious Mitilini detention centre on the island of Lesbos. Faegheh then travelled to Athens, where we found her flea-bitten and living in squalour with 20 other Afghans in a filthy two-bedroom flat.
