Dr Kevan Collins is the Chief Executive of Tower Hamlets. As head of the paid service, he's responsible for the day to day running of the Council, following the policies set by the 51 Councillors voted in by the residents of the Borough.
Kevan grew up in Lancashire and trained as a teacher in Bradford. He has worked in public services ever since. He started his teaching career in Tower Hamlets but in 1992, he left the classroom and returned to Bradford to be part of the Language & Literary Advisory Service Team. It was the start of his management career and he eventually became the National Director of Primary National Strategy for the Blair Government.
He joined Tower Hamlets Council in 2005, where he set up the Children's Services Directorate at the Council. He was promoted to CEO in 2009.
Kevan father was a Sergeant Major in the Army and he has five brothers.
