Betty and Daniel

Tuesday 01 December 2009

This might be the last ever series of Ugly Betty, but as the series draws to a close, could one relationship be about to move to a new level?

No, not Amanda and Marc silly - although this pairing would have seemed just as unlikely in the past. Is it possible? Could Betty and Daniel be about to become more than just good friends?

We don't know about you, but we've noticed that, throughout this latest series, Daniel has become more reliant on his ex-PA, and is constantly stepping in to fight her battles (whether she wanted him to or not!)

Since the very beginning there has been so much more to Betty and Daniel than just boss and employee: she's covered for his weaknesses (thinking of someone other than himself) and he's boosted her crippling lack of self-confidence to such a degree that her career looks set to eclipse his.

Remember at the end of the third series when Daniel saw Molly's ghost as he was accepting the award for Mode's Wedding issue. "Sometimes we're fated to meet certain people," he said. "People who make a difference, who push you to grow." Well, that's what Betty and Daniel have done for each other.

Considering Betty was employed by his father deliberately to stop him having affairs with his secretaries you can hardly blame Daniel for taking so long to realise he can't survive without her. But if they did ever get it together, does someone like Daniel deserve someone like Betty?

And now that Betty's transformation from "pinata full of fun" to sophisticated editor is almost complete, can she snag a man like reformed-playboy Daniel? Get your tissues ready, we're hoping for a fairytale ending. But will they get together?

And do they belong together anyway or are they better apart? Considering Betty's disastrous track record with men, would they even last anyway?

We'd love to know what you think. Betty and Daniel forever?
