Lucignano D'Asso is a jewel of a hamlet located in the southern hills of Tuscany. Owned by the Piccolomini's, the descendants of a famous 15th century Pope and one of Italy's richest and most aristocratic families, Lucignano D'Asso was, until five years ago, a ghost village. Now it has become one of Tuscany's most exclusive holiday resorts, run by Countess Piccolomini and her sister Simonetta.
The film follows a summer at Lucignano as the guests are cosseted by the highly eccentric and engaging pair. In the winter, when the tourists have gone, the estate's former peasants reclaim the land as they go in search of Tuscany's finest gastronomic luxury - the elusive White Truffle.
