On Monday 29 August 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall in southeast Louisiana, bringing with it winds of up to 175 mph and a devastating loss of life.
The day before the storm reached land, 24-year old aspiring rap artist Kimberly Rivers Roberts turned her new video camera on herself and her 9th Ward neighbours who were trapped in New Orleans.
With no means to leave the city, and equipped with just a few supplies and her camera, she and her husband Scott recorded their harrowing experiences as the storm raged and floodwaters filled their home and community.
Seamlessly weaving fly-on-the-wall filmmaking of their ordeal, home video shot before and after the storm and news archive footage, this is a redemptive tale of two people who survived not only broken levees, bungling bureaucrats and armed soldiers, but also a system that failed them.
