Series 1 Episode 1
First Broadcast:

Nick Broomfield's 1992 documentary. Chicco Twala made his fortune from the blossoming African music industry, but although he employs whites to run his estate, he cannot vote or send his children to the local white school and he carries a gun tucked in his belt.

On the surface this is a story of music-biz deals and recording sessions and rock concerts, but underneath it is a study of racial tension in the unstable urban environment of Johannesburg.
