Series 5 Summary
This is archaeology against the clock as the Time Team hit the road with just three days to investigate, excavate and extrapolate. Dig locations include, Richmond, Aston Eyre and Mallorca.
Episode 1 - Richmond
Tony Robinson and the Team search for the remains of the inner sanctum of the royal private apartments at Trumpeters House in Richmond, Surrey, where Elizabeth I died
Episode 2 - Grevlake
In Iron Age Somerset, areas of high ground were connected by wooden walkways across the marshland. Can vague 1920s reports guide the Team to peat-preserved wooden remains?
Episode 3 - Orkney
The Team visit Scotland, where schoolchildren on the Orkney island of Sanday asked them to investigate local mounds that are reputedly of Viking origin
Episode 4 - Turkdean
A look back at the Team's visit to a field near the Cotswolds village of Turkdean. Finds included a roof tile bearing a Roman dog's paw-print, a rare 'friendship' brooch and a plunge bath.
Episode 5 - Mallorca
The Team visit Mallorca in pursuit of the Beaker people, an enigmatic culture that may have introduced metalwork to Britain
Episode 6 - Aston Eyre
The Team travel to Aston Eyre in Shropshire, where a farmhouse converted from a medieval gatehouse is the starting point for three days of hard work
Episode 7 - Downpatrick
The Team visit Downpatrick, one of Ireland's most sacred sites, to look for evidence of the early Christian monastery and the later Benedictine buildings that were sited on Cathedral Hill
Episode 8 - Worsall
Just yards from the Teesside village of Worsall is the site of a medieval village, and Time Team have just three days to find out why it was suddenly abandoned completely
