The filming on Day Two starts
with a bang

For this shoot we had prepared a model of the castle and surrounding earthworks to illustrate the story of the siege.

Once Stewart had finished surveying the earthworks, he realised our model needed changing to include new lumps and bumps he had uncovered. The graphics team had to mix a new batch of papier mache and set to work adding the new details before the model could be filmed.

During the three days an army of re-enactors descended on the village. They were here to teach Phil Harding to fire muskets and cannons - that was going to be very noisy! Weeks before the shoot we had to deliver letters to the village warning everyone to expect the sound of cannon fire on Day Two.

One of the biggest practical challenges was finding accommodation for the Team. Hopton Castle is a beautiful location but is far off the beaten track. This meant that our 40 team members had to be split between 5 hotels. Making sure everyone was on site on time in the morning required military precision from the Production Coordinator.
