Tony Robinson joins an unprecedented archaeological expedition in Belgium to search for a bunker, or dugout, from the Great War known as the Vampir.

Beneath the paralysed front in Belgium, elite tunnelling companies created a deep maze of tunnels and dugouts, which was the only safe place to hide when shelling made the surface hell above.

But more than simply a place to live, the underground became a place to fight. England's best miners and engineers volunteered to apply their trade to making war.

Few records exist. But beneath Flanders Fields, the fruits of their labours are preserved, many metres below ground.

  3. What has happened to all the Downloads for Time Team? They have disappeared this week. I cant use Catchup because it freezes all the time and I never reach the end of a programme.

  5. Time Team and Dispatches back numbers are with a very few honourable exceptions (eg The David Starkey programmes), the ONLY thing worth watching among all the Channel 4od programming. Perhaps a few more programmes (why the US spelling?) for those of us who like to feel that we might learn something interesting - or even useful from the cultural desert that is Channel Four these days. What is the point of all the so-called "Reality-TV", game shows and other dross which is put out most nights. It was not so very long ago that Channel Four could be relied on for at least some good alternative veiewing. Alas, no more!

  7. still no explanation I wish they would leave things alone few programmes worth watching please please put time team back Can I download time team so i can watch it over and over again I love the programmes its one of the best i seen for along time so please please put time team back

  10. Disappointed. Time Team is one of the few programmes worth watching. Now it's gone - no warning, no reasons - just nothing. Absolutely disgusted with Channel 4.

  12. Very disappointed - why have they taken all the normal time teams off - most had several days left on their availability. Hope they bring them back soon and give us an explanation!

  17. Can I download the 26 May WW1 bunker Time Team? I teach WW1 literature/poetry and it would be excellent in showing my pupils the realities trench living.
