In November 2009, one of the world's most iconic sportsmen hit the headlines once again, but for the first time, it was scandal rather than triumph that brought Tiger Woods into the spotlight.
The subsequent media frenzy revealed not only his actions, but opened up much wider interest and scrutiny of the sports industry, the entertainment business and the world that Tiger lives in.
Presenter and journalist Jacques Peretti directs a one-off documentary analysing the rise and fall of the flawed golf genius. Meeting the people who really know Tiger's story, Jacques attempts to try and understand his behaviour.
He investigates the making of Tiger, how corporate America influenced the brand and the man, what drove him to become the world's first billion-dollar sporting icon, and why it all came crashing down.
The extraordinary construction of Tiger Woods was two-fold: of innate genius on the golf course, and an enigma outside of the sport. Tiger was outwardly the perfect endorsement machine who could seemingly do no wrong.
Documenting how his multiple extra-marital affairs spiralled out of control, the film seeks to make sense of his relationship with these women within the context of Woods' psychopathology: why did Tiger do it?
From the journalists on the tour and lovers like the porn star and the pancake waitress, to the fixer who provided girls and the ex-military golfing pro acting as Tiger's trainer and role model for years, Peretti interviews the people who protected him, the women who slept with him, and those who could have brought him down.
As many speak for the first time, they help paint a picture of why people hold a story, how kiss and tells emerge, and who breaks the scandal and when.
This film reveals the truth behind the incredible story that crystallises a 21st-century sex scandal.
