Kim Watson was left with a lined face and saggy jaw line after 18 years of caring for her children, so, in 2007, she plucked up the courage and remortgaged her house in order to fund a lower facelift and a tummy tuck.
Kim went into surgery having agreed to a lower facelift but while under the knife her surgeon decided that a full facelift would be more beneficial to her. She awoke to find staples in her forehead, and was convinced that she had been given a better deal.
A few days later Kim’s husband noticed that her right eyebrow wasn’t moving when she spoke, so, four months after her initial surgery, Kim was given revision surgery where a clip was placed at the top right of her brow to lift the droop. Aesthetically, the results were good to begin with and the droop was corrected, but Kim was left with barely any feeling in the top right hand side of her face, and her brow still didn’t move. A week after surgery she was in excruciating pain and the right side of her face began to droop again; the clip was coming free. Kim went back under the knife just a month later to have another clip inserted.
Nearly two and a half years after her initial surgery Kim is left with extensive nerve damage to the right hand side of her face, which is often very painful. She is angry and ashamed about what happened, and is passionate about changing the way the cosmetic surgery industry is run.
