Julian Burgess and Danielle Finch have severe stammers. Both have stammered since they were very young and this has affected every aspect of their lives. Both are desperate to rid themselves of their debilitating condition.
First Cut follows them on a four-day intensive course, run by the McGuire Programme, that helps people who stammer overcome their affliction.
The course includes new breathing techniques, how to overcome the fear of speaking and how to deal with everyday normal communicational situations. At the end of the course, Julian and Danielle both have to make a public speech in front of hundreds of onlookers.
