He leads the Super Friends, a group of misfit brainiacs who meet secretly in the 'refuge of the damned,' a deserted school boiler room where they can do extra- credit projects without fear of reprisal.
Martin's undertakings include a chemical analysis of the cafeteria's fish sticks, his own translation of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and a vaccine against cooties. He also successfully lobbied to have the school day extended twenty minutes.
While his incessant polysyllabic utterances invariably irritate the hoi polloi, Martin's brainpower makes him an invaluable 'friend' during standard testing periods.
