  2. Rob, you are showing your ignorance if you truly believe that we all have the same opportunity in this life particularly in the UK. You've managed to leave the area. Good for you. For those who do not have the ability or opportunity to do so are dealing with the harsh reality of ghetto life which was created by the system not the people. Lastly I have no dispute with anyone who expresses his or her opinion but I do feel that certain words should be avoided.

  3. Thank you BG, but, I too think you need to be corrected. I am from the very place that we saw last night, so I think that I have every right to comment. Whether you are black, white or indifferent, there is no need to act in this manner, making a fool of both yourself and your community, and as so many times said, "disrespecting people because what ? they are whatever colour and are asking a polite everyday question. I am sorry but, how does that constitute being marginalised and let down by the system. I am sorry brother or sister, this shows you in your light, and your ignorance is shining through. The statement was not stereotypical, it was a true reflection on what I know goes on. I lived there and by being disrespectful and aggresive like this does not do them or anyone else any favours. And, before you ask I never left my people behind, I was fed up with the apathy and lack of courage and spirit by them. We all have the same opportunity in this life, no matter where you come from or your ethnicity. For your information ghettos, as you put it, are not built by developers, they are created by people living in an area, usually fuelled by gang and crime culture. I respect your point of view but, in my opinion you do condone the behaviour of the 'chip on the shoulder' element, by allowing them to hide behind the big bad system. Well done again, Dominic.

  4. I believe Rob needs to be corrected. The young men portrayed on the programme do not have a 'chip' on their shoulders. This is a very stereotypical statement to make. They are let down by the system and marginalised which in turn has left them disaffected. I am not excusing their behaviour towards a total stranger who simply asked for some information. However it has to be recognised the system, whether intentionally or unintentionally, has time and time again (even throughout history) ghettoised their families. This is clearly evidenced in the show.

  5. I agree with most of what has previously been said. I do agree that filming could be more couvert as long as the person being filmed is appropriately protected, this was not the easiest of places to go into and I took my hat off to Dominic, he did extremely well. I used to work in Peckham and I know that the vast majority of people there are good and honest people but, the younger element with big chips on their shoulders should be given good role models, such as those two young men helping in their communities. There is too much anger regarding the ever widening gap between the haves and have nots. It is time for real change. In this case, along comes Dominic who has the long term help and vision of a decent human being coupled with his entreprenurial spirit. Well done indeed Channel 4 for this show, there are a lot of bad people out there, but, and as people have previously said, there are decent human beings, such as Dominic and the young men portrayed. Yes, we do need to evaluate life in inner cities, in a realistic way. We need to rid ourselves of the gang culture, which has always been around and throughout the land, but, with our 'breaking down of our social infrastructure', programmes such as these show us that there are ways forward. Politicians have not got a clue, we get more done with private enterprise, such as the Dominic's of this world than a barrowful of out-of-touch, get as much-for-ourselves politicians. They are more interested in their expenses than truly doing the right thing. Thank you for an excellent show last night, your best, by far !!

  6. Fully agree with all of the below, thought that Dominic was the best secret millioniare yet. The way that he has asked to be involved in all 3 projects/peoples lives for forseable future. My heart went out to the young lad Billy a guy that has been dealt a lot of bad luck. Great to see someone like Dominic give him a chance and help him both financially and educate him with courses and give him work experience. All 3 cases were inspirational, and it was good to see that you don't have to go up and down the country to find people that need help when they are on your door step.

  7. Last nights episode was the best one ever more people should take a leaf out of Dominic's book, rather than just throwing money at project he has taken a long term view at them. just shows that younger people can be more caring and thoughtful

  8. Agree with others that this was the best show of the series. Dominic was immensely impressive as a genuinely caring individual who displayed a very humble approach. It was a very emotional programme and brought my wife and I to tears especially with the positivity of the two young black guys and the gratitude from the young bullied lad and his father. We need more shows like this that demonstrate the good side of humanity rather than the celebrity rubbish that is served up the vast majority of the time.

  9. What an inspiration to find someone young and caring, that is willing to help less fortunate kids try and make a better life for themselves. And the guys that are running these projects for the kids, are without doubt, a true credit to the society which we live in today. Just wish there were more people like Dominic, who are in that position to help more kids keep off the street and have a future that they can strive towards.

  10. This was by far the best episode. Dominic is a true inspiration and this wasn't just about giving money but about helping to resolve long term issues. What he did was amazing and you could tell that he wanted to achieve much more in such a short space of time but what is even better is his ongoing support.

  12. I have watched this show but like many others this by far was one of the best. Not only did he help them but also he set in place foundations for others to keep going and offer them motivation for the future. The two black men where amazing and true inspiration for others who want to try and better themselves but dont always have the support to do it. I truly wish them luck for the future and I think now they have even more reason to believe in humanity and that there is people who want to help in a positive way. Well done Channel 4 for an amazing show!!!

  13. I have seen a few episodes of this programme but last nights episode was the best by far. Dominic really impressed me not only with his generosity but with the effort he made to really get to know these people and to find the best way to help them. Big respect to all the people that contributed in last nights programme but the two young black men were outstanding and made me very proud of their commitment and contribution. Well done & good luck to all.

  14. What a wonderful human being Dominic is, helping these people wasn't just about money for him, it's long term - he's a true star and I wish the very best of everything to him and all those he is helping.

  15. This is a secret gem of a TV series. It never fails to surprise, but I was very moved by this episode in particular. What struck me was how Dominic didn't even have to leave his own London borough to experience such a different and seemingly hostile way of life. The people Dominic met along the way were truly inspiring. I can't help thinking that our present education system just isn't working. Offering disaffected youngsters (14yrs +) real practical skills and experiences outside of the school environment would serve us all much better. Well done Dominic, TV at its best. I hope your support for the Peckham community will encourage others in your position to do the same.

  16. I Was On Facebook When My Mate Said That The Secret Millionaire Was Bein Filmed In Peckham. Which Is Where I Live. I Know So Many People That Was On The Show. I Was Even Caught On It But I Moved Out The Way Real Quick. I Can Actually Remember Them Talking To Us And Saying It Was Going To Be Filmed. How Great. Peckham Needed The Money But Its Not Gonna Stop The Crime Though.

  17. I love this show, though i wish they wuld try with secret filming as I sometimes feel that people are not as open and blunt as they may well be if the cameras were not visible

  19. I have watched Secret Millionaire form the first show and have been touched by every episode, but this one is now in a special place in my heart, it was so refreshing to watch a show that for once has shown that not all black teenagers are thugs and gangsta wannabes. I wept with pride at the two young men in this show and my heart went out to the young boy who was being bullied for doing what sooo many young men are unable to do and say no to the gang culture!!! Well done Channel 4 and a big thank you to the two young men who should most definately be held up as shining examples of the possibility of changing your life for the better no matter what your background there is always a choice about the direction your life can take and these two young men could not be a better example of this.
