HIV / AIDS is a preventable and treatable disease, yet it has killed more than 20 million people in Africa.
In 2002, more than 29 million people in sub-Saharan Africa had HIV but only 50,000 of them could afford the $10,000 a-year antiretroviral treatment.
Today, thanks to increased political support, a push by global health organisations and contributions from the private sector, the cost of ARV medication is around 20 pence a day, and more than three million people in Africa are receiving treatment.
The Lazarus Effect film follows the story of people who were at death's door and were restored to life in as few as 40 days thanks to access to treatment.
Directed by Lance Bangs and executive produced by Spike Jonze.
