The Inbetweeners USA
About the Show
The US version of the UK coming-of-age comedy about a group of teenage boys who are social 'inbetweeners', neither popular nor misfits
Series 1 Summary
When Will Mackenzie begins at his new high school, he regards it as the perfect opportunity to start afresh and reinvent himself, but he is soon entangled with a group of new friends who are not cool enough to be popular but not geeky enough to be nerds - the 'inbetweeners'
Episode 1 - Pilot
On his first day of classes, the Vice Principal of Will Mackenzie's new high school, Mr Gilbert, assigns Jay, Neil and Simon, three social 'inbetweeners', to show him around.
In an attempt to improve their status with their fellow students, the guys skip class and try to come up with a brilliant plan to win over Carly, the girl of Simon's dreams, but things soon go awry and Will finds himself in trouble.
Episode 2 - Sunshine Mountain
When Simon gets his driver's licence, the guys can't wait to cruise around looking cool in his new car, but the vehicle doesn't live up to expectations.
After discovering that Carly will be at the Sunshine Mountain amusement park that weekend, the gang decide to go along and Will sets out to ride the park's most terrifying roller coaster.
However, Simon's car suffers some damage on the trip, as does his ego when his attempt to impress Carly in front of her boyfriend Bobby goes wrong.
Episode 3 - Club Code
The guys make another failed attempt to increase their social standing by trying to buy alcohol at the local bowling alley, without success.
Instead, they jump at the opportunity to meet Carly and her friends at a downtown club the next night, especially when one of the girls hints that she's attracted to Will.
After failing to find a proper parking space, Simon pays a down-and-out to watch their car by swapping shoes with him, but his chances of dancing with Carly are not improved by his pungent new footwear.
Episode 4 - The Wrong Box
Will decides to sign up for a club or activity, and while researching which one to join he meets his dream girl, the beautiful and intelligent Charlotte.
Having discovered what her interests are, he sets up a campus cookery club to catch her eye, but his efforts spark some unwelcome attention from her aggressive ex-boyfriend Donovan.
Meanwhile, master chef Bobby shows up at the first meeting of the cookery club to ruin Simon and Carly's culinary connection.
Episode 5 - The Masters
Simon enlists Will to caddy for him in a golf game against his father that has $100 at stake. However, when Simon's competitive side comes out, he storms off the green and Will has to take his place.
Meanwhile, a rejected and lovesick Will decides to win back Charlotte's friendship by bidding for her at the school's senior slave auction, but his plan goes badly awry.
Episode 6 - Class Clown
Carly's family is forced to stay with Simon's while their house is fumigated, so the guys rally round to help Simon give his childish bedroom a makeover before her arrival.
Will continues to be bullied by Charlotte's mean ex-boyfriend Donovan, while Jay frets that he won't win the vote for Class Clown as his older brother and his father did before him.
Episode 7 - Crystal Springs
In an attempt to get over Carly, Simon tags along with the rest of the gang to stay with Jay's family at a campsite, a holiday Jay promises will present ample opportunities to meet attractive girls.
However, once they arrive it becomes clear that Jay was exaggerating, and the prospect of a feeble party in the campsite recreation room does nothing to raise their spirits.
Episode 8 - The Field Trip
The guys go on an overnight field trip to an American Civil War battlefield. On the bus journey, Will meets a cute new girl, Lauren, but struggles to overcome his travel sickness and soon sees her stolen away by Simon.
Later, during a very strange Civil War re-enactment, Jay meets the girl of his dreams on the battlefield.
Episode 9 - Fire!
When Will is accused of starting a fire in a school litter bin, he is forced to make enquiries to locate the real culprit in order to clear his name of arson.
Jay knows about a clandestine party that he promises will be the bash of the season, but when the guys set off in search of it, they end up on a wild goose chase that brings them back to Simon's house.
Episode 10 - Reading Gives You Wings
Simon does his best to cure Lauren of her shoplifting habit, and the school library is reopened after getting a renovation sponsored by an energy drink.
Irked by the new library's flat screens, rock-climbing wall and absence of books, Will attempts to stage a protest there, and a television news crew catches the whole event.
Episode 11 - Spa Time
Carly and her friends work at the school's car wash to raise funds for the homecoming dance, so the guys turn up in Simon's car to lend their support.
While there, Samantha tells Will that he needs to lose his virginity if he is to stand any chance of going out with her.
Later, the friends visit a spa, funded by an all-day pass from Will's mother, but Simon is unable to relax and enjoy the treatments as he is racing against the clock to get back to school and give Carly a lift home.
Episode 12 - The Dance
In the last episode of the series, Will serves as chairman of the homecoming dance committee and strives to get everything organised perfectly in order to impress Samantha.
He asks the guys to help him plan the event, but they're distracted by the search for the perfect dinner jacket to wear on the night.
Simon makes a huge effort to win Carly over, and Jay invites Brie along in the hope of getting back together with her, unaware that she has formed an attachment to Simon's brother, Todd.
