Shortcrust Pastry Recipe
A basic pastry recipe suitable for many a dish
Makes 900g pastry
- 600g strong white flour
- 150g cold beef dripping, broken into pieces
- 150g cold butter, diced
- 2 tbsp ice cold water
1. In a mixer, blitz the dripping and flour together until there are no lumps. Add the cold butter and continue to mix until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
2. Add the iced water and keeping mixing until you start to get a dough. Roll it into a sausage, wrap tightly in clingfilm and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
