Bleed you own radiator

What you need
Radiator key + old rag

How to do it
1. Use your key to release the pressure from the valve (usually at the top of your radiator). Hold your rag under the valve to stop any mess.
2. Once the water begins to trickle through, turn the key back to close the valve. The trapped air will now be out of the system.


Homemade lip gloss

What you need
1 tbsp of coconut butter
2 tbsp of petroleum jelly
1 tsp of honey Old lipstick
Sprinkle of edible glitter (optional)

+ any containers to store your new lip gloss

How to do it
Step 1: Melt the butter for 30 seconds in the microwave
Step 2: Take out and leave to cool
Step 3: In a different bowl, mix the jelly and lipstick together
Step 4: Pour the coconut oil into the jelly mixture
Step 5: Add your honey and glitter
Step 6: Decant the new mix into some containers and pop in the freezer until solid


Use over ripe bananas to make muffins instead of throwing them out

What you need
3 very ripe bananas
125ml vegetable oil
2 eggs, 250g plain flour
100g caster sugar
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1 tsp baking powder
150g white chocolate chips
+ Muffin cases, muffin baking tray (12)

How to do it
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 200C, gas mark 6
Step 2: Line the tray with the muffin cases
Step 3: Mash your bananas
Step 4: Beat the eggs into the oil
Step 5: Mix the dry ingredients together and add the oil and egg mixture
Step 6: Tip in your mashed banana
Step 7: Fold in the chocolate chips
Step 8: Divide the mix into the cups
Step 9: Put in the preheated oven for 20 mins


Cheap copper cleaner

What you need
Lemon juice
Salt

+ a rag

How to do it
Step 1: Pour some lemon juice onto the area you want to clean
Step 2: Then sprinkle the salt onto the area
Step 3: Rub the solution into the copper until it gleams!


Unblocking your windscreen washer

If your windscreen washer isn't working, before you go to the garage, use a safety pin to try and unblock the tiny hole. Just stick the pin into the hole and give it a wriggle.


Budget bath-bomb

What you need
4 tbsp bicarbonate of soda
2 tbsp citric acid, some dried flowers
1 tbsp almond oil
1 -2 drops food colouring
10 drops of essential oils including witch hazel

+ ice cube tray, foil

Important: keep everything dry at all times

How to do it
Step 1: Mix the bicarbonate of soda and citric acid together
Step 2: Stir in the almond and essential oils, food colouring and the flowers
Step 3: Spray on your witch hazel and stir quickly until the mixture goes crumbly
Step 4: Pack the mixture into the mould, nice and tight and leave in an airing cupboard overnight
Step 5: Wrap in foil. They're now ready to use!


Cheap furniture polish

What you need
Olive oil
Lemon juice

+ soft cloth

How to do it
Mix the 2 together, and using a cloth, rub it onto your furniture!


Make your own compost

What you need
Kitchen waste (food scraps, tea bags etc)

+ a bin, some kind of mat

How to do it
Keep adding your food scraps into the bin and remember to cover with the mat every time. Leave for a few weeks and you should have a fresh batch of compost.

Important: Do not throw in any plastics or non-biodegradable products


How to safely and cleanly drill into a tile

What you need
Sellotape, marker pen, drill

How to do it
Step 1: Mark the tile where you want to drill
Step 2: Place a couple of pieces of sellotape over the mark
Step 3: Using short bursts, drill into the tile making sure the bit is perpendicular at all times
Step 4: Pull of the tape and dust off

Scrimper Tip: only use a masonry drill bit and make sure the drill is not set to the hammer settin


Revamp your black car trims

Black boot polish, shoe brush

Simply apply the polish to the trims
