Series 3 Summary
Season three of the US comedy finds Tessa and her father George trying to re-establish their relationship after some time apart and making a new start in the suburbs.
Episode 1 - No Me Gusta, Mami
George tries to rebuild his relationship with Tessa and introduces her to his new dog. But when Sheila discovers that there's a stray canine on the loose in Chatswin, she dedicates herself to tracking it down.
A furious Dalia shuns Dallas for breaking up with George and goes on the hunt for a new 'Daddy Altman'.
Episode 2 - Victor Ha
Empty-nest syndrome hits the Shay household, so Sheila and Fred take in a foster kid named Victor, who they believe to be a mini Ryan.
Meanwhile, Tessa objects to George being friends with Dalia.
Episode 3 - Open Door Policy
Tessa becomes concerned when George starts to let himself go after his break-up with Dallas, so she asks his father Emmett to help. But Emmett's advice soon gets on George's nerves.
Ryan comes home from college for a visit and brings his new girlfriend June with him, but she's very different from what Tessa was expecting.
Episode 4 - The Birds and the Biederman
Dallas and George get their daughters to negotiate the division of Chatswin between them so they don't have to have awkward encounters with each other after their break-up.
Tessa feels left out when she notices that Lisa is spending a lot of time with Ryan's girlfriend June. Fred worries that Sheila is distancing herself from him when she falls victim to work stress.
Episode 5 - Blame It on the Rainstick
When Noah is released from a court-mandated anger management programme, George is shocked by the change in his formerly hot-headed friend, who now has an extremely docile demeanour.
Tessa meets a free-spirited group of new age musicians in the park and embraces her musical side, but the band isn't what it appears to be.
Episode 6 - About a Boy-Yoi-Yoing
When George becomes a member of a chic new juice bar, Tessa reminds him of their pact not to get sucked into Chatswin's shallow culture. Inspired by her words, George takes Fred on a day trip to New York.
Tessa is pressured into attending Evan's pirate-themed birthday celebration despite her best efforts to avoid it.
Episode 7 - I'm Just Not That into Me
Tessa drags Malik and Lisa along to a college party, where she meets Mark, a male version of herself, and is instantly attracted to him.
Dallas enlists the services of a matchmaker to find dates for herself and Dalia, but after following the woman's advice and going on a 'date' alone, she decides to get back to basics with a new look.
Episode 8 - Catch and Release
When Lisa tells Tessa that she has decided to propose to Malik, Tessa is hesitant about supporting her friend in taking such a permanent step, but the proposal doesn't go as planned.
Tessa is inspired to fight for her ex-boyfriend Ryan's attention. George frets when he hears his girlfriend Nora being rude to her employees.
Episode 9 - The Ballad of Piggy Duckworth
Dallas recruits Tessa to keep her company on a trip to the South so that she can attend her mother's funeral.
While there, Dallas is forced to come to terms with the inadequacies in her relationships with her mother and sister.
George, Noah and Fred go on a group date, on which one of the ladies takes a fancy to Fred, but can he stop Sheila from finding out about it?
Episode 10 - No, You Can't Sit with Us
Tessa takes young social outcast Alana under her wing and helps her to compete in the Little Miss Chatswin beauty pageant against Dalia's popular protégé Nadia.
As the rivalry between them heats up, Tessa finds herself stooping to Dalia's level to win the contest.
When George, Noah, Fred and Victor go on a weekend camping trip, Fred accidentally loses his son in the wilderness.
Episode 11 - Dalia Nicole Smith
When George and Tessa meet a beautiful woman and her son while looking at potential colleges for Tessa, George insists that the four of them should double date.
Dalia fails to get into the only college she has applied to, so Dallas goes on a mission to help her daughter find her true calling.
Episode 12 - Les Lucioles
When Tessa takes over planning Lisa and Malik's wedding, she struggles with the budget and loses sight of the romance.
June confronts Tessa and warns her to stay away from Ryan, Malik's family decides to boycott the wedding, and Sheila offers Lisa pearls of wisdom.
Episode 13 - Stiiiiiiill Horny
Tessa joins a sewing circle, leaving George a little surprised by the age gap between his daughter and her new friends.
Still reeling from his one-night stand, George decides to put pen to paper and write a song dedicated to his muse.
The honeymoon period seems to be over already for newlyweds Malik and Lisa as they struggle to get along.
