Breakdancing/B-Boying: A form of hip hop dancing which incorporates top or up rock, footwork, power moves and freezes.

Battle: A dance off between different bboys/girls or crews.

B-Boy/B-Girl: A person who performs bboying (breakdancing), but also ‘lives’ the lifestyle and is dedicated to the art form.

Burn: A type of move intended to embarrass the opponent by creating obscene or comical moves (i.e crotch grabbing) during battles.

Crew: A group of b-boys / G-girls who dance together.

Cypher: A circle where bboying takes place.

Floorwork/Downrock: This includes all footwork performed on the floor such as the foundational 6-step.

Freezes: These are usually done at a end of a bboy set, they are sylish poses where the bboy hits a certain shape and holds it for a number of seconds.

Power Moves: These are actions which require momentum and physical power to execute. Examples of these include windmill, swipe, flare and airflare. Some of these moves have originated and evolved from gymnastics.

Toprock: Steps preformed from a standing position. This is usually the opening display of style.
