    Gregory's never been around that much, but promises it'll be different this time. He sweeps Mini into his glamorous and grown-up world where she feels a million miles away from her problems.

    Franky is in a bad place - it's the week of her mock exams and she's unable to concentrate on her studies.

    Her friends are avoiding her, parental support makes her feel smothered and in her isolation she feels propelled towards Luke. He's bad news, but he feels as if he's the only person who understands her and she's intoxicated by him.

    Drawn into Luke's dangerous world, she finds an outlet for her anger and frustration. Burning bridges with family and friends, Franky is in more trouble than ever before.

    But help comes in unlikely forms, and out of the darkness a new friendship is born.

    Alex starts college and immediately hits it off with a fellow student. He sees something very special in Liv and draws her into his strange and wonderful world.

    But it can't last. Alex isn't used to having friends, and Liv invests a little bit too heavily in the distraction he provides.

    Professor David Blood has banned Rich from visiting Grace in hospital and Rich is suffering.

    Alo tries to keep him out of trouble with a band practice, but Rich is committed to his love and he stands outside the hospital waiting for Grace's call.

    Eventually the call comes and Rich finds a way past security and breaks into Grace's room. The lovers are reunited, but they have a problem as Blood is moving Grace to another hospital in Zurich.

    Rich goes to Grace's house to appeal to Professor Blood, but finds they've already gone. Rich moves into the house, sleeping in Grace's room until Alo tracks him down and pledges to help his best mate.

    But Alo has other things on his mind and cracks begin to develop in the boys' friendship. It falls to Liv to bring the fractured group back together again.

    Grace has always believed in fairytales and happy endings, but she is forced to face reality when Rich meets her father, who instantly disapproves and threatens to send her back to Mayberry's College for Young Ladies if her grades drop.

    Grace has to pass her drama exam, but with her relationship in turmoil and the whole gang at odds in her production of Twelfth Night, it's not looking likely.

    When Grace manages to pull it off, her father goes back on his word, sending her to Mayberry's anyway. However, Rich rescues her, climbing up to her room and proposing - her own real-life Romeo!

    Fed up with his boring life on Creevey Farm Alo goes to the city to seriously party and try to get laid. Meanwhile his parents, fed up with his behaviour, remove him from college in an attempt to force him to buckle down on the farm.

    But Alo rebels and hosts a party that ruins the farm. He hopes that this will show his parents that they can't keep him trapped there, but when his dad is hospitalised he finally sees it's time to grow up.

    Nick is the star of the school - on the surface he seems to have everything. But Matty's reappearance has unsettled him and as he watches Matty slip effortlessly into new friendships, old wounds are re-opened.

    Nick realises that everything he thought he wanted - the approval of his father and the rugby success - is crushing him.

    Mini befriends the gang in order to isolate Liv, who is still having a scene with Nick. Liv then hooks up with a guy called Matty and they spend some time escaping reality. But when Liv finally tells Mini about her affair, their friendship changes forever.

    Mini is feeling under threat when Grace brings Franky to the charity fashion show - she ends up sacking them both.

    Despite appearances, Mini's relationship with Nick is also rocky. While Mini struggles to maintain control, Liv acts in the worst way possible.

    Rich uses his taste in extreme music to keep the world, and especially girls, at bay. But when Alo finds Rich the perfect woman, he is forced into pairing up with Grace to learn how to chat up girls.

    Grace has to learn the ways of metal in order to impersonate a metal chick, but Rich doesn't make it easy, refusing to believe a mainstream girl could understand him.

    Eventually Rich appreciates the meaning of compromise and allows Grace into his world, but heartbreak isn't far away...

  • Series 5 Episode 1

    Franky starts at Roundview and is determined not to be a loner. Things seem to be going well until she accidentally challenges Mini's position as queen bee, and when she doesn't conform to Mini's expectations, she's spat out.

    Franky then meets Matty, who understands and empowers her, giving her the strength to stand up to Mini. Grace admires Franky, and a new gang is formed, with Alo, Rich and Grace.

    Franky has finally found friends, but in doing so has started a war with Mini.

    The domestic situation at Naomi's has come to a head. Everyone begin to congregate in the house and the showdowns begin as the teenagers meet the adult world in a head-on collision.

    Effy has been receiving treatment at a psychiatric hospital, but with the help of Anthea and her counsellor John, she feels strong enough to return home. She is worried, but assured that so long as she is disciplined she will be ok. Her life is now dictated by routine and self-control. Anthea has cleared her room so there's no evidence of her old life. Feeling strong and hopeful about the future, Effy goes to visit Freddie and tries to pick up where they left off, but it's not that easy now that she has to live a life by the strict routines she has set herself. Freddie and Anthea become concerned about Effy, she's stronger and more self-assured than she's ever been, but something isn't right.

  • Series 4 Episode 6

    JJ has a part-time job with Thomas in a confectionery wholesalers where he has fallen in love with beautiful fellow cashier Lara. He sets about planning to get a date with her, but catching her eye is not as easy as he thought. What's worse is that some of his friends don't think he's up to it, and to his horror, his mum and his doctor agree with them. Cook comes to the rescue - full of advice on how to handle the opposite sex. JJ sets forth only to discover that there are many more hurdles than he could ever have expected. Is he up to the challenge?

    Freddie is completely wrapped up in Effy, and with Anthea away, the Stonem house has become their private world. But their hedonistic lifestyle is having an impact on Freddie's coursework and when he voices his concerns to Effy it ends in a fight.

    Is this just a spat or is there something deeper wrong with their relationship? After an argument with his dad, Freddie turns to his grandfather Norman for advice.

    Katie has barely seen Emily since she walked out on the family to live with Naomi. Katie's mother Jenna is now the sole breadwinner with her new wedding planning business. Katie is trying to help her mum organise a client's ghastly over the top WAG wedding, but relationship problems are preoccupying Katie and things go horribly wrong. In desperation she turns to Emily for help, but things only get worse.

  • Series 4 Episode 3

    After previously 'losing it' at the party, Cook is up on a charge of GBH but insists on pleading "not guilty" much to the frustration of his world-weary lawyer Duncan. He's granted bail, but given an electronic tagging order and curfew that applies to him residing with his mother in her mansion.

    At the house, he is reunited with his younger half-brother Paddy whose nihilistic attitude and run-in with the police disturbs Cook who begins to realise the example he's set is not so funny anymore.

    When Cook swaggers into college, he is expelled on the spot for his brush with the law. He is further humiliated by the intimacy he witnesses between Freddie and Effy. Feeling shunned by everyone, he finally sees that his actions are his responsibility. He confides in Naomi and confesses to the police about selling MDMA to Sophia.

    Effy comes to visit Cook in the Young Offenders Institution the day before the trial to reveal her true feelings - but is it Freddie or Cook that she really loves?

  • Series 4 Episode 2

    Emily and Naomi are back at Roundview and seem as loved-up as ever. When the police turn up, they are both called in to be interviewed. Their names were listed by the family as close friends of Sophia's, even though Emily knows they'd never met her.

    Emily learns that Naomi was dealing pills with Cook in the club that night and sold one to Sophia. Behind Naomi's back, Emily visits Sophia's family as she needs to know why the family had their names. She discovers that the dead girl claimed to be best friends with Naomi and Emily. Whilst looking around Sophia's bedroom Emily secretly pockets a key. Effy's return has drawn a line under Cook and Freddie's joint denial-fest. Though they keep their distance from Effy at first, Cook later sees Effy and Freddie get together. In haste he lashes out - assaulting a random party-goer - and gets nicked. Emily realises that the key she found is for Sophia's locker and inside she finds a shrine to Naomi. Was Sophia some kind of Naomi stalker?

    The gang are having a great time at one of Thomas's club nights until an accident leaves him feeling responsible. Shocked into questioning his role within society and feeling alienated from his peers, he turns to God and the African community and, in doing so, isolates everyone around him.

    Cook and Effy are in self-imposed exile: they've gone to stay with Cook's father. Back in Bristol, JJ is trying to snap Freddie out of his depressed stupour.

    Katie won't leave the house. Fortunately, Emily is able to disguise herself as her sister, and sits an exam on her behalf.

    Katie is making the most of the fact that she's replaced Effy as Queen Bee, but invites Effy to a party in the woods, where the gang come across some scary poachers.

    Naomi thinks she has the world worked out, and puts people into pigeonholes: her hippy mum, guest star Olivia Colman; adoring Emily; Cook's insulting misogyny; and the flattery of her politics teacher Kieron, Ardal O'Hanlon.
