About the Show

Meet the independent US road transporters who have found that fortunes can be made by shipping things that traditional carriers won't touch

Series 1 Summary

Competitive and creative US shippers who are willing to go the extra mile take on the oversized, bulky and strangely shaped packages that have to be transported from one place to another.

Who will get there on time, who will profit the most and who will be road blocked? In this world, you're only as good as your last load.

  • Shipping Wars: Jarrett Joyce

    Episode 1 - Pilot

The transporters compete for some unique shipments going cross-country as a 4000lb, 22ft steel horse and an oversized, 7ft-long Venus flytrap come up for bid.

Roy Garber and Jarrett Joyce are the big winners of the two transports, respectively, but there's no time to celebrate when they both realise they may have bitten off more than they can chew.

If the steel horse doesn't arrive on time, Roy will lose half his pay. Meanwhile, the Venus flytrap is on a deadline for the opening night of the Little Shop of Horrors. If Jarrett can't deliver the oversized prop on time, then the show won't go ahead.

The stakes are high as they race to make sure their cargoes arrive intact and on schedule.

  • Shipping Wars: Suzanne and Scott Bawcom

Episode 2 - Double Down and Bean Town

When consignments hit the auction block, Suzanne and Scott Bawcom score a shipment for a freshwater boat, while Roy Garber gets stuck transporting an old British phone box after he tries to teach Jarrett Joyce a lesson.

But when the Bawcoms try to double their earnings by taking on a second large boat, they could end up sinking the entire shipment.

Roy finds his cargo is twice as heavy as listed, and after he's shut down by security will he even get the chance to load it on his trailer?

  • Shipping Wars: Marc Springer

Episode 3 - Cash for Tanks

After Marc Springer battles it out with the other transporters, he wins a load of two military tanks heading across the country. Roy Garber lands a mint condition Model A being shipped from one collector to another.

Marc quickly loads up the tanks, but has to find his way through a maze in a small Pennsylvania town before he even makes it to the highway.

Roy has to make this delivery and then get back home in time for his son's graduation, but when he's caught up in a terrible storm, will he damage the load and find himself out of pocket for this priceless antique?

  • Shipping Wars: Jennifer Brennan

    Episode 4 - Bullship

When some livestock hits the auction, Jennifer Brennan makes her move and wins a haul of two bucking bulls, while Marc Springer gets a fragile experimental aircraft.

When experienced cowgirl Jennifer picks up the bulls, she finds them meaner than she expected. Shipping them becomes less of a concern for her than just keeping them alive.

Marc soon gets the gyrocopter loaded up, but when he decides to swap trailers mid-run, he leaves behind some important pieces of the load, jeopardising his entire shipment.

  • Shipping Wars: Roy Garber

Episode 5 - Pain in the Caboose

When it comes to the biggest and baddest loads, Marc Springer can't help but throw his hat into the ring. Fighting off Scott and Susie Bawcom, he lands the job of hauling a 1928 train caboose.

Marc turns up to find more of a remodel project than a shipment, and has to get to work right away.

When Roy Garber wins the privilege of shipping a pristine condition 1955 Ford Thunderbird, he's sure it will be an easy run.

But as he arrives to pick up the vintage car, it's the neighbours who give him more grief than he's paid for.

  • Shipping Wars: Marc Springer

Episode 6 - Camel in Tow

Jennifer Brennan uses her experience transporting livestock to win a camel shipment from Oklahoma to Vermont.

Between getting lost, stopping to keep her cargo fed and cleaning up the camel spit, Jennifer gets way behind schedule. And when her truck breaks down mid-run, the whole consignment is jeopardised.

Marc Springer gets to haul a $150,000 landing craft from coast to coast, but when he picks up a side shipment for some extra cash, he risks damaging his anchor load and his wallet at the same time.

  • Shipping Wars: Jarrett Joyce

Episode 7 - Tavern on the Greenbacks

Roy Garber heads back into New York City when he outbids the other transporters for a job moving a catering food truck from the city's famous restaurant, Tavern on the Green.

When he arrives and finds the truck in non-operational condition, Roy quickly becomes a mechanic and machine-shop worker, but tensions rise when he seeks payment for his extra work.

Jarrett Joyce picks up a 400lb wooden African sculpture that should make for easy money, but when he's forced to repair his not-so-trusty cargo van, he must find additional loads to stay in the black.

  • Shipping Wars: Jennifer Brennan

    Episode 8 - Jennifer's Arch

Jennifer Brennan may have taken her livestock speciality too far when she tops the transporters in an auction to ship a number of small animals.

Between the smell, the constant feeding and the never-ending squeals, it could be the last run Jennifer makes with so many creatures.

Jarrett Joyce outbids Marc Springer in the competition to haul a go-kart shaped like a miniature semi-tractor trailer.

Moving his load up the coast, he must deliver it in time for a local event that will feature an entire fleet of similar tiny vehicles. But when his van breaks down once again, it may be the last straw.

  • Shipping Wars: Suzanne and Scott Bawcom

Episode 9 - Baja or Bust

Marc Springer is heading to Mexico when he wins an auction to ship a $100,000 Baja 1000 Trophy Truck. Leaving from Colorado, Marc must protect his precious cargo and make sure it arrives without delay in time for the start of the famous race.

Scott and Susie Bawcom take their boat-hauling knowledge to a new level when they transport a wooden pirate ship across the south-west.

  • Shipping Wars: Roy Garber

Episode 10 - May the Ship Be with You

Roy Garber lands the shipment of his dreams when he hauls some large, one-of-a-kind props from his favourite sci-fi film. But when he's cut up by another trucker on the highway, he's afraid the priceless movie artefacts could be damaged.

Jennifer Brennan outbids fellow rookie Jarrett Joyce for a cargo of 20 peacocks heading to Arizona. With the exotic birds confined to small boxes for transport, she must cover nearly 2000 miles in three days or risk the stress of the journey killing them.
