Libby works at the library and is every inch your typical librarian, with the demeanour of a Rising Damp's Miss Jones.
Although seemingly quiet and submissive at work, Libby hides a highly politicised personality and isn't afraid of a good fight for a good cause.
She also suffers from narcolepsy, which means that at any given moment she could have a seizure and fall asleep.
Libby has looked after her disabled mother for the last 15 years - her sense of duty to her mother has always come before any romantic entanglements. This has left her somewhat naive in the ways of love, waiting for a Byronic romantic hero to whisk her off her feet.
Libby has a dazzling intellect, but absolutely no common sense, and is often swept away in her own fantasies. She's bright and effusive, and although not classically good looking, her spark and sense of wonder gets her a long way.
And then Libby meets the love of her life in Series 7 - Frank. Quickly realising their love is true, Libby - together with her mother Patty - move in to Windsor Gardens and live… err… happily ever after.
Until Series 8 that is when a previous Mrs Gallagher is back on the scene. Will Libby use more than just her precious words to stand up to her?
