Secrets of the Stone Age

Series 1

Series Summary Secrets of the Stone Age

In this unique series, anthropologist and author Richard Rudgley challenges the image of early man as an unintelligent, club-wielding 'Fred Flintstone'.

According to the history books, civilisation began with the Egyptians 5000 years ago, but the series presents evidence of medicine, architecture, art - and the roots of writing - long before conventional history says they existed.

Rudgley travels through two million years of pre-history to paint a startling portrait of our ancient ancestors who, he claims, had the potential brainpower of Einstein and bodies just as advanced as those of today.
